Help break the stigma of mental health. Tell your story to other mothers. It is okay to talk about mental health issues. Don’t be ashamed as a mother if you struggle or have struggled with your mental health. It is more common than you think. It is best to Express these issues with your doctor.  Remember your mental health can affect your child as well. So you have to stay on top of your mental health. Talking to your doctor can be the first step in staying mentally healthy. So many Mothers suffer in silence because they are ashamed of the label that will be put on them. That label was put on me and I have to admit it did hurt.

 But I blocked the negativity and am on top of my mental health. It did not happen over right. Everything is a process that comes with ups and downs. You have to commit yourself to this process. During the down times, learn how to express it in a healthy way. Talk to someone close to you. Isolation may sound good at first, but it can cause you to feel down longer. Listen to other Mothers if they feel down. Be a helpful and not judgmental. You never know what that mother is going through.

Feel free to share your mental health journey as a Mother.  Remember it is more common than you think. Having a baby changing your hormones, body and life. No one is perfect.  Everyone struggles with something, but it is how we cope and deal with it that matters. Share your story. Tell someone, don’t suffer in silence. Always talk to your doctor. No one is perfect, and if they say they are, it’s a lie. It is important to stay mentally healthy for yourself and your child.
